Paneer Tikka

Paneer Tikka recipe with step by step photo - Paneer tikka is a very popular Indian appetizer. Paneer tikka is paneer cubes are marinated in a mixture of thick curds and spices arranged on skewers and grilled in a pre heated oven. Paneer tikka is usually served as a starter with green chutney or mint chutney.






Ingredients:
  • Paneer (cut into cubes/squares) - 250 grams
  • Onion (cut into cubes/squares) - 1 large
  • Green Capsicum (cut into cubes/squares) - 1
  • Red Capsicum (cut into cubes/squares) - 1
  • Tomatoes (cubed and seeds removed) - 2
  • Oil - 1 tbsp for brushing
  • Skewer - 8
For Marination:
  • Curd (Thick/hung and unsour) - 1 cup
  • Gram flour (besan) or Corn flour (corn starch) - 1 tbsp (Optional)
  • Kashmiri red Chili Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Kasoori Methi (crushed) - 2 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
  • Lemon Juice - 1 tsp or to taste
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Chat masala - 1/4 tsp + 1 tsp
For Serving:
  • Green Chutney - 1/4 cup

Method:

1. Take hung/thick curd in a big bowl.

2. Add ginger garlic paste, corn starch, Kashmiri red chili powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, oil, lemon juice, crushed kasoori methi, chat masala and salt.

3. Whisk well using a spoon or a wired whisk to prepare marinade.

4. Add cubed paneer, green capsicum, red capsicum, tomato, onion in prepared marinade.

5. Mix gently till all vegetables and paneer are coated with marinade. Cover it and set aside for marination for about half an hour in refrigerator.

6. Preheat oven at 400 F (200 degree C). If you are using wooden skewers then soak them in cold water for 30 minutes. It will prevent skewer from burning while grilling.

7. Skew marinated onion, green capsicum, red capsicum, paneer and tomato in skewer. Repeat the same order. (Keep paneer in center not in side.)

8. Grease baking tray and arrange skewers with tikka on tray. Brush the tikka with little amount of oil. Place baking tray in oven and cook for around 7-8 minutes. Turn them around, brush with some oil and cook it again for 7 minutes or until edges of paneer start to turn brown.

9. Remove skewers from oven transfer to a plate.

10. Sprinkle some chat masala powder over paneer tikka. Serve hot with green chutney or mint chutney.
