Garlic Naan recipe without yeast is super easy to make at home. Naan is a type of Indian Flat bread and in Restaurants Indian dishes are usually accompanied by freshly made Naan. The garlic naan is light, soft and the garlic enhances the flavor so much. Along with garlic I have added some coriander leaves too. In this garlic naan recipe, I have used both all purpose flour and whole wheat flour in proportion 2:1. You can use only all purpose flour or only whole wheat flour too. Garlic naan goes well with paneer butter masala, paneer tikka masala, chilli paneer with gravy, vegetable manchurian, chicken curry or any gravy based dish.
Preparation Time:
Resting Time: 15 Minutes
Cooking Time:
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- All Purpose Flour/Maida - 2 cup + more for rolling
- Whole wheat flour - 1 cup
- Salt - to taste
- Sugar - 2 tsp
- Curd/Yogurt (Thick Unsour) - 3 tbsp
- Milk - 3/4 cup
- Oil/Ghee/Butter - 3 tbsp ((I used olive oil; you could use ghee or butter)
- Baking Soda - a pinch
- Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- Garlic (chopped) - 10 cloves
- Garlic paste - 2 tsp
- Water - 3/4 cup if required
- Butter/Ghee - for brushing on top
- Coriander leaves (chopped) - 1/4 cup
Also needed:
- All purpose flour - 1/4 cup for rolling
Methods:
1. In a big bowl sieve the all purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
2. Add sugar, oil, garlic paste, Mix it well.
3. Add milk and yogurt in it. Knead to make smooth dough. If the dough looks dry then add some water and knead again. The dough should be smooth and soft.
4. Cover the dough with a wet cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
5. Make medium sized balls of the dough. Roll it into 6 inch round circle.
6. Now top up with garlic, coriander leaves and again roll slightly so that all garlic will get stick to the naan.
7. Preheat oven at 350 degree F (175 degree C) in broil mode. Place the garlic naan in a baking tray and put it in oven. After 1 minute turn the naan to another side and again put it in oven for 1 minute. (For making garlic naan on tawa - Place the naan on a hot tawa/skillet and roast from both the sides till it gets light golden spots. Then place the naan with the help of tongs on flame and cook both the sides till they get browned.)
8. Brush it with some ghee or butter.
9. Serve hot with any paneer gravy, vegetable gravy, chicken curry or mutton curry.
