Paneer Fried Rice Recipe

Paneer Fried Rice is a popular Indo-Chinese recipe. This is mildly spiced, nutritious paneer and mix veggie dish. There are various ways to use rice for a dish. Paneer fried rice is similar to the preparation of vegetable fried rice. This Paneer fried rice is made with basmati rice, soft paneer and assorted vegetables, flavored with soy sauce. This Paneer fried rice is very colorful, mild, not spicy, so its goes well in the kid’s lunch box too.

  • Paneer (Cottage cheese) - 200 gram (cubed)
  • Olive oil or ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Ginger (chopped) - 2 tsp
  • Garlic (chopped) - 3 to 4 cloves
  • Green Chili (chopped) - 2
  • Onion (chopped) - 1 medium
  • Carrot (chopped) - 1 medium
  • Green peas – ½ cup
  • Beans (finely chopped) - 6
  • Capsicum (chopped) - 1/2
  • Soy Sauce - 2 tsp or to taste
  • Salt - to taste
  • Turmeric powder – a pinch
  • Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder – ½ tsp
  • Coriander leaves (finely chopped) - 2 tbsp

For Rice: 

  • Basmati Rice- 1 cup
  • Water - 2 cup
  • Salt – ½ tsp
  • Olive oil- ½ tsp


For Cooking Rice:
1. Take rice, water, olive oil and salt in a pressure cooker and cook for just 1 whistle, turn off the heat and let the steam go all by itself. Open the cooker and transfer the rice to a big bowl. Fluff it up and cool it completely before using.

For Frying:
1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Fry paneer cubes in it until golden brown and keep them aside.

2. In the same pan add remaining oil and heat on medium heat. Add ginger and garlic. Sauté for 1 mins.

3. Add green chilies and stir. Add onion and fry till translucent.

4. Add carrots, beans, capsicum and green peas, sauté on medium- high heat for 5 mins. The veggies will be cooked and shrink in this time.

5. Add turmeric powder, salt, black pepper powder, soy sauce stir and mix well.

6. Add fried paneer and cook for 2 mins.  Add cooked rice mix well and fry for 5 mins.

7. Add coriander leaves and mix well.

8. Turn off the heat. Serve hot with Gobi Manchurian or Vegetable Manchurian.
